Where should I donate this Giving Tuesday?

I hope you had a wonderful time reflecting on all you’re grateful for last week, spending time with loved ones, and getting some R&R. Now, while you’re detoxing from heavy foods, I’ve got the perfect post to help you do a whole lot of good without having to leave the comfort of your chair.

In case you don’t know, here’s a crash course. Giving Tuesday began in 2012 and it takes place annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It’s a “global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.”

Did you know that we have FOUR nonprofit organizations right here in the Network run by BRA Members? That’s right. Four!

These organizations all do very different work and they’re all rooted in worthy causes. See which ones speak to you… Then help us change the world!

Allkidsswim

This is the nonprofit element of BRA Member Lisa Cook’s kidSwim. Allkidswim supports water safety education and access to swimming for early childhood years in underserved communities.

70% of Black children do not know how to swim.

60% of Latino children also don’t know how to swim.

Black + Brown children are three times more likely to drown.

Swim lessons reduce the likelihood of a child drowning by 88%!

The organization is committed to ending drownings in marginalized communities by providing swim education on-site at local schools. Donate HERE.

Every Day Action

Every Day Action was founded by BRA Members Hillary Cohen and Sam Luu. EDA reallocates food waste in the Greater Los Angeles Area to help feed the food insecure. Hillary and Sam were tired of seeing the ridiculous amount of food from TV and film sets that would go to waste every single day, so they put their frustration into action and founded Every Day Action to help feed the food insecure. Donate HERE.

Moms in Office

BRA Member Simona Grace, a single mom herself, founded Moms in Office — a leading democratic organization dedicated to electing pro-choice mom candidates and working to achieve economic justice for all women.

In 2022 less than 10% of representatives were moms with kids under 18. In total, there were 151 women sitting in Senate and House seats, comprising less than 28% of Congress. Women and mothers make up one of the largest segments of our population, but they make up the smallest number of our federal government.

A mom’s voice is an undeniable asset when creating policy that impacts our children, our families, and our future. Yet, too many barriers keep women, especially moms, out of elected positions. Moms in Office is changing that with a future-minded focus. Donate HERE.

She Angels Foundation

Founded by BRA Member Cat Curry-Williams, She Angels Foundation awards grants to grassroots female founded non-profit organizations that provide mentorship, funding, and resources to a diverse portfolio of women’s and girls’ causes. Through collective giving, She Angels Foundation creates a simple, effective way to raise funds; promotes inclusivity and connection; achieves a greater impact on community needs and challenges; and opens the door for diversity. Donate HERE.

With so many incredible options to donate to, I do hope you’ll give this Tuesday to a nonprofit in our Network. If you do, let me know which one (or all) you chose! I love to hear about our community helping each other out. Just send me an email and let me know which organization(s) you elected to support!
